On-Page SEO Checklist

Follow this customizable checklist to master your website’s on-page SEO. Improve your rank and website traffic with this step-by-step guide to on-page SEO.

01.The title should be 60 characters or fewer to prevent it from being truncated in the SERPs.
02.The primary keyword should be positioned as close to the start of the page title as possible.
03.1-2 secondary keywords should be featured naturally without repeating overlapping terms.
04.The title should contain elements that increase CTR, such as a number, year, call to action (CTA), or power word.
05.Keep the Meta description text between 150-160 characters, Include the primary keyword at the beginning and Included 1-2 secondary keywords in a natural way.
06.Optimize URL for SEO-Friendly by making the exact match primary keyword and use dashes (-) between the words.
07.The H1 tag is the highest heading level HTML markup and use only one H1 heading on the page.
08.Optimize the H2 tags for SEO by Including 1 H2 for each target keyword.
09.The first H2 should be front-loaded with the primary keyword.
10.The second H2 should be front-loaded with the most important secondary keyword.
11.H2 subheadings should contain 60 characters or fewer.
12.Dont over-optimize the H3 subheadings for the main SEO keywords which can cause ranking issues.
13.Add Short Introduction because content that appears above the fold is considered to be an important ranking factor for search engine crawlers.
14.Use 1 relevant image for the primary keyword and 1 relevant image for each secondary keyword.
15.The associated image for the primary keyword is embedded directly above the optimized H2 tag.
16.The ALT text for each image includes the relevant keyword while accurately describing the image for screen readers.
17.For each image, their filenames must matches the associated keyword and uses dashes (-) between words.
18.Add the target SEO keyword to the metadata of the Image.
19.Add Featured Snippets as it get 35% of all clicks on the first page of Google.
20.Organize Content with proper heading structure (H1 to H6).
21.Include an author byline or author bio box with a link to the author’s bio page.
22.Include the published date and time (time is optional for evergreen content but essential for news-related content).
23.Demonstrate expert knowledge on the subject by sharing in-depth information, personal opinions, original photos, and self-produced videos.
24.Include semantically related words to the primary keyword topic to enhance the depth of expertise.
25.Include at-least 1-2 unique elements which are not found in the top-ranking URLs (e.g., tables, charts, info-graphics, videos, list items, industry expert quotes, FAQs).
26.Include 1-3 external links to high-quality sites to add proof for claims, facts, statistics, etc.
27.Add relevant Schema Markup to the page’s HTML code based on the type of content it includes.
28.Check your Schema Markup with Googles “Test your structured data” tool.
29.Add Engaging Visual content and Regularly review your Content Quality.
30.Make sure your web page is Mobile-Friendly.
31.Use short paragraphs and insert LSI Keywords naturally.
